About Us

The Living Memory Group began back in 2017, with a simple idea and a big heart. It all started when Mary Adams, inspired by her work with Rotary South Wales, set up a small “memory café” at Narberth Museum to bring people together – especially those living with dementia or finding life a little lonely.

At first, things moved slowly. For months, it was just one or two people coming along, but Mary and her volunteers refused to give up. Then came the turning point: instead of focusing only on dementia, the group opened its doors to anyone who felt isolated – whether through health issues, bereavement, or just needing company.

That small change made all the difference. Suddenly, the group began to grow, filling with laughter, conversation, and connection. When local children from Narberth CP School started joining in, something special happened – generations mixed, barriers disappeared, and the room came alive with chatter and smiles.

Music soon became part of the heartbeat of LMG, thanks to The Elderly Brothers – a few members of Whitland Male Voice Choir – who filled the sessions with singing, warmth, and joy. Before long, the group had outgrown the museum and moved to Narberth Rugby Club, where it still meets twice a month for songs, games, tea, and plenty of laughter.

Today, the Living Memory Group is a vibrant, welcoming community for people of all ages and abilities – a place where friendship comes first, everyone is included, and no one ever feels alone.
